Carmen Winstead was a 17-year-old girl who lived in Indiana with her parents. They had just moved there because her father had just gotten a new job. So, unfortunately, she had to leave her friends behind and move to a new school. For the first month or so, Carmen was having a really hard time making friends, but she ended up meeting a group of girls. There were 5 of them in the group, and they were pretty popular. They were really nice to her and were able to convince her that they were her friends. But it wasn’t long before Carmen found out that they were spreading rumors about her behind her back.

The girls began to bully her. They were terrible to her. They would call her names, pour yogurt in her backpack, write awful slurs on her notebooks and on her locker, and eventually they would start stuffing dog poop in the pockets of her jacket.

One day, the school was having a fire drill. The girls put their heads together and came up with the perfect way to humiliate Carmen. When the alarm rang out, of course, the entire school went outside. Carmen was in the back of the line and she was standing near an open sewer drain. The girls circled around Carmen and were slowly cornering her, to where she had no where to go. At that moment, one of the girls pushed her into the sewer. They started to laugh hysterically as the teachers began to do roll call.

When the teacher came across Carmen’s name, the girls said, “She’s in the sewer!” There were a few scattered chuckles from other kids. But then, they realized that Carmen wasn’t moving. She was face down in the sewage, and she hadn’t moved, or said anything. Everyone stopped laughing, and the girls’ faces dropped into a look of fear and concern. They called Carmen’s name but didn’t a response.

They called the police and they found that Carmen’s neck was broken, and her face was horribly scraped. On her way down, she repeatedly hit her face on the ladder that was down there, and she broke her neck on impact. The police interrogated everyone at the school. But, unfortunately, the girls were the only people who knew what happened. When asked what happened, they lied and said that she slipped. With further investigation, they had no evidence of foul play and her death was ruled an accident.

About a month later, a chain message was received by everyone at school. It was a voice recording titled, “They Pushed Her”. It was Carmen’s voice, but it was raspy, and it didn’t really sound like her. It sent chills down everyone’s spine. Especially because she was dead. In the recording, she told her story and directly told the girls that they needed to come clean. And that they were “murderers”. Even though they were creeped out by this message, they didn’t feel that it was necessary for them to turn themselves in. So, they didn’t.

Over the course of a few weeks, the girls began to disappear. One by one. Legend says that before they disappeared, they reported hearing creepy laughing coming from their sink, or their shower drain. Eventually, the girls turned up, but they were all dead. But what was even stranger, was that they were killed the same way Carmen was. Their necks were broken, their faces were scraped up, and they were in the same sewer, outside of the school.

Legend has it, that the people who didn’t believe what Carmen said on the voice recording, also turned up dead in that same sewer, the same way Carmen and the girls were killed.
